United Way and Fidelis Care Distribute 1,000 COVID-19 Care Packets to Nine Schools in Columbia and Greene Counties

United Way of the Greater Capital Region partnered with Fidelis Care and Greene County Medical Arts Pharmacy to support local students returning to school safely and distributed 1,000 COVID-19 Care Packets consisting of hand sanitizers, children’s masks, bleach wipes, tissues and backpacks to nine schools in Columbia and Greene counties this week.

“Procuring these essential back-to-school items has been a challenge throughout the pandemic. This effort ensures children in Greene and Columbia counties can focus on a great start to their school year as safely as possible,” said Peter Gannon, President & CEO at United Way of the Greater Capital Region.

“Our students are facing tough challenges as we begin the new school year and access to essential personal safety items should not be a barrier that impedes learning,” said Randy Squier, Superintendent of Schools at Coxsackie-Athens Central School District. “The health and safety of our students and community is our top priority, and this donation of critical items will help us stay on track for a safe and successful school year.”
