UAlbany’s Class of 2019 Volunteers at Patroon Land Farm, August 29 and 30

Members of the University at Albany’s Class of 2019 will volunteer their time to support the efforts of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and its Patroon Land Farm on Saturday and Sunday, August 29 & 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Regional Food Bank’s Patroon Land Farm, 132 Ketcham Road in Voorheesville.

This community service event is designed to introduce the new class to the needs of their community and reinforces the University’s commitment to community engagement. As part of their service, students will help weed, harvest, wash and box produce, while others will sort and package food and non-food products for distribution at the Food Bank’s warehouse in Latham.

Three hundred freshmen and transfer students from UAlbany’s Student Engagement Living-Learning Communities (L-LCs).

L-LCs build community connections by providing students an opportunity to meet like-minded students, live in the same residence hall, and take classes with students who share similar interests or intended academic majors.
