May 1, 2018Trucking Association of New York and Bestpass Host Touch-a-Truck Events Across New York State to Raise Money for Charities
The Trucking Association of New York (TANY) and Bestpass, a company that The Trucking Association of New York (TANY) and Bestpass, a company that provides single-source payment and streamlined toll management services to commercial fleets,have teamed up to host four touch-a-truck family fundraisers throughout New York state. The touch-a-truck events are family-friendly and free, with a suggested donation for charities including: Veterans Miracle Center New York, A Room to Heal, Holy Childhood and Paige’s Butterfly Run.
“Touch-a-Truck events provide a unique educational opportunity for children and adults alike, allowing them to get close to the vehicles they usually only see on the road, while in a safe and fun environment,” said TANY President Kendra Hems. “We’ve had great success hosting Touch-a-Truck events locally and thought it would be a wonderful idea to bring the fundraising idea to other communities to benefit multiple charities.”
Last year, three TANY and Bestpass Touch-a-Truck events raised more than $11,000 and more than 4,000 children, parents and other members of the community were able to get up close to more than 50 large commercial vehicles. To date, the events have raised more than $20,000 for local and national charities.
After hosting their first Touch-a-Truck event in 2014, the Bestpass staff was inspired and published the Touch-a-Truck Fundraiser Kit<https://go.bestpass.com/host-a-touch-a-truck-event>, an all-inclusive electronic guide for planning and holding public awareness and fund-raising events centered around trucking.
“The Touch-a-Truck events are an excellent way to give the public access to the large vehicles that keep our country moving,” said Bestpass President and CEO John Andrews. “It was always our hope that others could benefit from the resource and plan their own successful events, and it’s amazing to see that become a reality.”
TANY and Bestpass will be hosting the following Touch-a-Truck events this year:
* May 5, 2018 – 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Burr Truck and Trailer Sales, Inc. – Vestal, NY
* May 19, 2018 – 9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Wilton Mall – Saratoga Springs, NY
* August 18, 2018 – 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Veterans Memorial Park – Henrietta, NY
* October 13, 2018 – 9 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Destiny USA – Syracuse, NY
