Tech Valley Young Professionals Network Partners with United Way

Each year, Tech Valley Young Professionals Network (YPN) partners with a member organization of the Capital Region as a part of their community service outreach. This year, YPN is partnering with United Way to collect school supplies for the United for School Success program. The group will be collecting supplies and will then spend time at United Way in August filling the backpacks and delivering them to the local neighborhood and resource centers, which include Trinity Alliance and Unity House.

School supplies for children grades K to 8 can average $105-$150 per child.  School supplies for older students are much higher due to bigger needs — more durable backpacks, graphing calculators for math, not even inclusive of the needs to do research/assignments via computer.

School supplies needed include notebooks, pencils, loose-leaf paper, binders, crayons, glue sticks, hand sanitizer, ziplocs, Kleenex, markers, construction paper, rulers, etc.  For a complete school supply needs list, click here.

All donations can be dropped off to either of the Capital Region Chamber’s office locations before July 21st:

Albany Office Address: 5 Computer Drive South, Colonie, NY 12205
Schenectady Office Address: 1473 Erie Boulevard, Schenectady, NY 12305
