Step Inside Baker Public Relations Virtually

Virtual reality (VR), or 360º video, is becoming increasingly popular for communicators, as the tech’s capabilities reach far beyond gaming. The use of these tools can greatly enhance a public relations strategy or campaign, and can even position a brand as an innovator. While Baker Public Relations has long incorporated video into both its agency and client PR campaigns, the New York State certified woman-owned business is now testing the waters with VR to showcase its new office space in Loudon Plaza. “We thought, ‘What better way to experiment with virtual reality than to do so with our own team in our new office?’ Potential clients and job candidates can feel present and step inside our space before ever physically being here,” said Megan Baker, founder, president & CEO, Baker Public Relations. “We added another dimension to the video by staging our team to show activity within our own work environment.”

Albany-based video production house Filmworks 109 began using the new medium in real estate in the fall, specifically to highlight listed properties. The team quickly realized 3-D’s potential on a larger scale.

“The opportunities are truly endless when a brand tells their story through virtual reality, providing a one-of-a-kind, in-person experience,” said Chris Famelette, director of photography, Filmworks 109. “We’re utilizing it more and more across all industries as businesses look to connect with their consumers on another level.”

Filmworks 109 invested in matterport 3-D camera equipment for these projects, and plans on upgrading their technology even further in the near future. Baker Public Relations partners with Filmworks 109 regularly to deliver engaging, educational client videos.

“This is yet another tool for us to deliver creative content that adds value and ROI for our clients. VR can be incorporated into press releases, as opposed to traditional photos or videos, and can also help elevate a pitch to new heights,” said Baker. “What’s more, we view this as a game-changer for brands looking to engage and appeal to younger audiences.”
