Sponsor-A-Scholar Celebrates 20th Anniversary, Honors Geraldine Golub

Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar announced plans to honor current board chair, Geraldine Golub, at its upcoming Scholar Celebration and 20th Anniversary Gala.

Robin Christenson, executive director, highlighted Ms. Golub’s contributions to Sponsor-A-Scholar: “Ms. Golub was instrumental in launching Sponsor-A-Scholar’s Schenectady program fifteen years ago. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to advance our mission and support our Scholars. She currently mentors a Schenectady High School student and a freshman at SUNY Oneonta.”

Sponsor-A-Scholar was initially founded in 1997 to address poor high school graduation rates in area urban schools. Over time, Sponsor-A-Scholar focused its efforts on providing comprehensive college readiness and college completion resources for selected local students. Since 2000, more than 215 students have earned college diplomas, and Sponsor-A-Scholar supports more than 110 students who are currently pursuing college degrees, as well as 92 high school Scholars.

Ms. Golub will receive the Founders’ Award at the Scholar Celebration and 20th Anniversary Gala on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy at 235 Hoosick Street. Tickets are available online www.crsas.org or by calling 518-935-1045.
