January 2, 2019Social Justice Film Series Continues at Albany Public Library
Albany Public Library’s Social Justice Film Series continues at the Howe Branch this winter. Participants at the monthly programs watch a screening of a topical documentary film, followed by a moderated discussion.
The APL Social Justice Film Series is made possible by partnerships with the Center for Law & Justice, Youth FX, and EquiVisible. These events, which are for adults, are free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to register for the programs by calling the Howe Branch at (518) 472-9485.

The 2014 documentary “Of Men and War” provides an unparalleled look at the enduring consequences of PTSD and the role treatment can play in helping soldiers and veterans reclaim their lives. Post-traumatic stress disorder affects almost 30 percent of the more than 800,000 Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans treated through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

This 2016 POV documentary showcases stories about race and ethnicity by different filmmakers through the “embedded mediamaker” project with the New York Times. The mutual goal was to produce bold, challenging projects about race.
