SCPL Author Visit: Robin Oliveira

New York Times best-selling author Robin Oliveira makes a return visit to the Schenectady County Public Library on Thursday, May 3 at 6:30pm for a talk in the McChesney Room of the Central Library. Her newest book is Winter Sisters, a historical novel set in Albany, NY during the blizzard of 1879, when two young girls go missing. Characters from Oliveira’s previous novel, My Name is Mary Sutter, an SCPL One County, One Book selection, are also central to Winter Sisters.

A starred review in Kirkus Reviews states, “Oliveira crafts a complex, multifaceted historical novel that is both a captivating story and a commentary on the laws that have, for far too long, oppressed and endangered women. With the exception of one sympathetic lawyer, all of her main characters are strong women who reject the limited mold of femininity to help others, speak out against injustice, and create a nontraditional family unit that fiercely protects its own.” The New York Times Book Review calls it a “stunning mystery.”

Oliveira grew up in Loudonville, NY and currently lives in Seattle. The Library event will also include a book sale and signing.
