Schenectady Public Library Announces FREE November Computer Classes

Basic Microsoft Excel 2010
Wednesday, November 4 at 6-7:30 p.m.
Start with the basics by entering data. Learn a variety of tips for formatting and printing your worksheet. Requirement: Mastery of basic word processing skills.

Computers for Novices
Thursday, November 5 at 9-10:30 a.m.
An introduction to computers for absolute beginners. No experience necessary.

iPhone/iPad Photography
Saturday, November 7 at 9-10:30 a.m.
Learn how to take and edit photographs using the c a.m.era and tools that already come preinstalled on your device.
Requirement: All students are required to bring their own iPhone or iPad with iOS 8 or higher installed. To find out what iOS version you have (iPhone, iPad): From the Home Screen, tap Settings > General > About. Other tech information can be found at apple.com.

Get to Know Your iPad
Monday, November 9 at 9-10:30 a.m.
What’s all the fuss about iPads? What is iOS 9? Do you have an iPad and want to feel more comfortable using it? Bring your questions and learn basic techniques of using an iPad. Bring your own iPad or borrow one of ours and explore the wonders of this new technology.

Basic Keyboarding
Tuesday, November 10 at 9-10:30 a.m.
Those who are new to computers should take this class.

Basic Powerpoint
Tuesday, November 10 at 6-7:30 p.m.
Powerpoint has become the progr a.m. of choice for the easy creation of business and personal slideshow presentations. You’ll learn how to make effective presentations by adding text, pictures and backgrounds to a variety of slides. Requirement: Basic familiarity with Microsoft Word and keyboard/mouse.

Basic Internet
Thursday, November 12 at 9-10:30 a.m.
A very basic, hands-on introduction to the Internet. Requirements: Must be able to use the mouse and keyboard.

Introduction to Tablets
Friday, November 13 at 9-10:30 a.m.
Do you have an Android tablet or smartphone that is giving you stress? This class will show you the basics of setting up your device and give you tips that will help make your experience a productive one. Requirement: Please bring your own Android device.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2010
Saturday, November 14 at 9-10:30 a.m.
Create formulas using Excel’s powerful built-in functions. Learn about relative and absolute referencing and copy/paste between worksheets.
Requirement: Mastery of basic spreadsheet and word processing skills.

iPad, Part II: Let the Tips Continue
Monday, November 16 at 9-10:30 a.m.
If you know the basics of how to use an iPad but want to do more with it, come and learn some little known tips and tricks for using an iPad wisely. We’ll talk
about taking photos, putting a slideshow together, Siri and more. Bring your questions and share your favorite apps.

Internet Searching
Tuesday, November 17 at 9-10:30 a.m.
Learn how to search for information on the Internet. Requirement: Must have taken Basic Internet.

Basic Email
Thursday, November 19 at 9-10:30 a.m.
Set up a G-mail account to communicate safely through emails and learn how to write, send, respond and delete emails.
Requirement: Must have basic internet skills.
