Rush Street Gaming CEO to Keynote CEG Annual Meeting

The Center for Economic Growth (CEG) will celebrate its 2016 Annual Member Meeting on October 20th at Proctors GE Theatre in Schenectady, NY.  Event registration begins at 5:00 pm; with the business portion of the meeting from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. Greg Carlin, CEO of Rush Street Gaming – owner and manager of Rivers Casino & Resort in Mohawk Harbor – will deliver the keynote. A reception will follow from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Key Hall.

A Chicago native, Greg Carlin worked as a successful investment banker before joining LAMB Partners in 1995. The diversified private investment firm teamed up with Hyatt Gaming, Inc. the following year to form Falls Management Company (FMC) in response to an RFP for an integrated resort in Niagara Falls. FMC was selected to develop and manage The Fallsview Casino Resort, which opened in 2004 and is currently the highest grossing casino in Canada. Mr. Carlin serves on both the board of directors and executive committee of FMC.

Soon thereafter, Mr. Carlin cofounded Rush Street Gaming, LLC, which now owns and operates 3 casinos, and the latest property, Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady is under construction in Mohawk Harbor. Mr. Carlin has a passion for developing exciting casino destinations that connect to the surrounding community and for creating diverse and rewarding work environments.

“We are extremely excited to have Greg Carlin join us for our annual meeting. His insight will provide a compelling platform for our evening as we talk about the economic future of our region, what the Rivers Casino means for us and how we can ensure it is successful”, said Andrew Kennedy, CEG’s President and CEO.

“Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady will be an economic driver for the entire Capital Region, creating more than 1,000 new jobs and generating significant tax revenue.” said Greg Carlin, Chief Executive Officer of Rush Street Gaming. “We are looking forward to our grand opening in the first quarter of 2017 and are confident that the new development will have a positive impact on the local economy similar to our other properties in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Des Plaines, IL.”

More than 300 business, government, academic and community leaders are expected to attend CEG’s Annual Meeting; one of the region’s top executive networking events of the year and an opportunity to celebrate regional successes with fellow CEG investors. The meeting will include official CEG business – a message from the board chair and committees, as well as an update on the direction the organization is headed in 2017 from CEG President & CEO Andrew Kennedy. Additionally, as part of the meeting, the organization will conduct elections for the 2017 board of directors.

“This year is particularly exciting for us as the organization not only gained a new President & CEO, but increased vigor and momentum. Under Andrew Kennedy’s leadership, the ‘new’ CEG will bring renewed focus to economic development activities to ensure continued investment, growth and improvement of our region’s economic climate,” said Dr. Laura Schweitzer, Vice President for Health Sciences and Biomedical Initiatives at University at Albany, and Chairwoman of CEG. “I look forward to what 2017 will bring for both the organization and the region,” she added.
