Playhouse Stage Announces Return of Performances at Cohoes Music Hall

Playhouse Stage Company will open its doors to live audiences with a production of the musical revue I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change set to be staged at the Cohoes Music Hall from April 30 through May 9.

Playhouse Stage will be implementing safety policies and procedures in strict adherence to recommendations and regulations outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, New York State Department of Health, and other county and municipal agencies.

The show’s creative team will be made up of longtime Playhouse collaborators with Direction by Michael LoPorto, Choreography by AshleySimone Kirchner and Music Direction by Brian Axford. The cast of four is comprised of fantastic area actors familiar to Playhouse Stage audiences. Marc Christopher, Dashira Cortes, Brandon Jones, and Molly Rose McGrath have all been featured regularly in past productions.

“After more than a year, the arts and entertainment industry is taking important first steps to reopen and begin serving audiences,” PSC Producing Artistic Director Owen Smith said. “We have developed a re-opening safety plan in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, and that plan is available publicly online. We will reopen with strict health and safety protocols in place, and a limited, fifty-person capacity to ensure social distancing is achieved. As vaccination rates increase, and as the rate of cases of COVID-19 continue to decrease, we believe audiences can enjoy live theatre in our venue safely and comfortably,” Smith continued. “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a wonderful vehicle to get audiences back into the theatre for a much-needed night of laughter and great music.”

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is the longest running off-Broadway revue in theatre history and has been revised by its authors for the 21st century. This celebration of the mating game takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as ‘the relationship.’ Act I explores the journey from dating and waiting to love and marriage, while Act II reveals the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car and pick-up techniques of the geriatric set. This hilarious revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, to those who have dared to ask, ‘Say, what are you doing Saturday night?’ The musical features Music by Jimmy Roberts with Lyrics and Book by Joe DiPietro. The four person cast will be accompanied by a five-person band under the direction of Brian Axford at the piano.
