FuzeHub Forum Yields Results for NYS Food Manufacturers and Growers

In October of 2014, FuzeHub in collaboration with High Tech Rochester (Finger Lakes Region NYMEP Center) held a Farm to Fork Solutions for food and beverage manufacturers. Solutions Forums are half-day events held across the NYS – free to manufacturing companies.

The Forum attracted aspiring food entrepreneurs, small-business wanting to launch a food product, food manufacturers who want to grow their businesses, and growers/producers. Leveraging FuzeHub’s extensive expertise and resource network, four companies have been highlighted as success stories from the forum. These companies were connected to NYS resources and reported several growth outcomes as a result of the forum. FuzeHub’s on-line portal and tracking system was able to monitor, analyze and report the following successful connections that resulted in funding of equipment, supply chain and business growth impacts:

FuzeHub Speaks at NGA Conference

The National Governors Association Center for Best Practices invited FuzeHub to speak at its 2015 Economic Policy Advisors Institute, “Creating Globally Competitive State Economic Ecosystems,” held May 7-8 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  FuzeHub’s Laura Mann attended as a guest speaker on the topic of “Leveraging Resources in an Entrepreneurial Environment”.

The NGA Economic Policy Advisors Institute is a one-of-a-kind meeting for state commerce directors and economic development advisors, being the only annual meeting exclusively for governors’ top advisors to network, learn from each other, and hear from experts who follow economic development trends across the states.

 

 

Supplier Connection: Meet the Members Webinar

Join Supplier Connection for a webinar on June 10th to learn about procurement needs and best practices for doing business with Guggenheim and Pitney Bowes. Each member will share how Procurement works at their corporation and what they look for in suppliers.

Speakers include Kate Kleyman, Guggenheim Associate and Supplier Diversity Manager and Jay Wesley, Pitney Bowes Supplier Diversity Manager and Performance. This is a wonderful opportunity for small businesses to understand the procurement processes of two large corporations. Small businesses can bring their questions to the webinar. More

 

 

New York Company Selected for 2015 Tibbetts Award

CASE, Syracuse University Announcement: The federal Small Business Administration has selected ANDRO Computational Solutions as one of only 23 small businesses across the nation to receive the highly coveted Tibbetts Award for 2015 for success in leveraging the federal Small Business Innovation Research Program.  A ceremony will take place on the White House grounds in June. More

 

 

Will Manufacturing Universities Fill the Skills Gap?

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is championing a bill that would encourage universities to align their curricula with the needs of manufacturers. Under the Manufacturing Universities Act of 2015, 25 qualified institutions would receive grants of $5 million per for four years. The program would be administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the U.S. Department of Commerce. More
