September 4, 2018Northern Rivers Earns National Accreditation
Northern Rivers Family of Services announces that after a rigorous, long-term process, they been accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) for 2018. This represents the first unified accreditation for Northern Rivers and member agencies Northeast Parent & Child Society and Parsons Child & Family Center.
The accreditation, required by federal and state statute, signifies that Northern Rivers programs meet or exceed both administrative and service delivery standards for human services programming.
Over an 18-month period including a self-study, documentation and records reviews, and an intensive, multisite visit, COA auditors worked with Northern Rivers staff on a comprehensive analysis of policies, procedures and practices.
“Northern Rivers is proud to be a part of COA’s Community Excellence. Our children, families, and communities deserve the highest quality services and performance standards, and independent accreditation is an important process of ensuring our success,” said William T. Gettman Jr., CEO of Northern Rivers.
“As an organization entrusted with serving some of our society’s most vulnerable people, Northern Rivers believes in transparency and accountability. On behalf of the board, I salute the dedicated professionals in our organization who ensure that we hold ourselves to the highest standard,” said Kimberleigh Phelan, Chair of the Northern Rivers Board of Directors.
COA is an international, independent, nonprofit, human service accrediting organization founded in 1977 that accredits more than 2,200 organizations serving 7 million people.
