“Part of my dream is to spend more time in a hammock – reading, writing, coaching, hanging with friends and entrepreneurs possibly on a tropical island or an interesting back yard, still serving others passionately and living on my own terms. The Hammock Way of Life, LLC embodies this vision that I hold, and represents whatever your vision is for your ideal future, too.”

After years of working with start-up entrepreneurs, I was inspired by their grit, enthusiasm and the courage it takes to take a leap of faith from a solid career to aspire to something bigger. As much as I love entrepreneurs, I saw a need to help others in different industries too. I’ve been a coach locally for a long time and wanted to expand nationally and internationally and specifically focus on helping people live their dreams and goals. My personal goal in 5 years is to spend more time in hammocks traveling around the world. I want to show others various paths to attain whatever it is that they aspire to be and do. I wanted to design businesses where I could work from any hammock, anywhere in the world. One of my heroes is Richard Branson. He owns 300 businesses and does most of his work from his own Necker Island.

I think what sets me apart the most is my ability to see connections. The more my network expands and the more I know about people, their passions and the businesses they are in, the more I can share resources. I’ve become adept over time in helping people build bridges. My business has expanded because people have witnessed the power of helpful connections and want to be a part of our energetic, dynamic, vibrant network.

One of my other businesses, Art n Soul, grew exponentially just by being a part of the Capital Region Chamber as a staff member. That business was a side hustle for me and it grew. Membership associations are important because they help you learn from others, stay current, and grow relationships. Plus, the Capital Region Chamber has a wonderful staff of kind, compassionate individuals who care about the community. That’s important to me, too.

Janet has also recently launched another business, Biz Idea Shower. Biz Idea Shower is a business registry, similar to a baby or wedding registry, where people can celebrate entrepreneurs and start-ups by helping them to purchase the items they need. Instead of showing up at a grand opening with flowers, candy and balloons, bring the gift of a stapler or door mat or printed items. Biz Idea Shower is also a one-stop, business resource that’s currently available in New York State, but will be rolling out to other states later this year.
