Meet the First American to Bike Across the Sahara

Kevin Hickey, Associate Professor of African, Caribbean, and African American Studies at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences spent four years cycling across Africa.  He was the first American to cross the Sahara Desert on a bicycle.  On Tuesday morning, March 21, Kevin will show his image-movie of the Africa portion of his bike trip followed by a discussion about not only the trip but also Africa in the contemporary world.  Kevin will also describe the study-abroad program he leads with Professor Cheikh Ndiaye of Union College.  Kevin and Cheikh combine students from both schools to travel, intern, and study together in Senegal.  Please join The Niskayuna Rotary for breakfast or coffee any Tuesday at the Blue Ribbon Restaurant & Bakery, 1801 State St (Route 5) from 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM.  The public is always welcome.
