Local CPA Earns Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified in Financial Forensics Credentials

Marina V. Migliore, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Forensic Accountant with Wickes Forensic Accounting & Consulting, LLC located in Albany, NY, was recently awarded the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) credentials.  For each credential, Migliore had to meet a stringent set of criteria and pass a rigorous exam.  Migliore is privileged to hold the CFE and CFF credentials, which signify expertise and competence in various areas of forensic accounting, which include commercial and personal economic damages, financial investigations, asset and transaction tracing, fraud prevention and response, shareholder disputes, divorces, bankruptcy and insolvency, etc.

The CFE credential is issued by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), which The Wall Street Journal identified as “the premier financial sleuthing organization.” The ACFE is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization and leading provider of anti-fraud education and certification.  Migliore has successfully met the ACFE’s character, experience and education requirements for the CFE credential and has demonstrated knowledge in four areas critical to the fight against fraud: Fraudulent Financial Transactions, Fraud Prevention and Deterrence, Legal Elements of Fraud and Fraud Investigation.

The CFF credential is issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the world’s largest member association representing the accounting profession, which sets ethical standards for its members and U.S. auditing standards.  A CFF starts with a CPA’s core skills, adds fundamental forensic knowledge around laws, courts and dispute resolution; information gathering and preserving; discovery; reporting and testimony, and then layers on additional, more specialized forensic knowledge. Migliore demonstrated this fundamental and specialized forensic knowledge and significant experience in financial forensics and completed the education required for the CFF credential.

Pam Wickes, CPA, CFE, CFF, ABV, Founder and Principal of Wickes Forensic Accounting & Consulting, said, “By earning the CFE and CFF, Migliore demonstrates a commitment to excellence in serving our clients.  This coupled with her diversified experience in public and private accounting gives her more of an edge in the niche area of forensic accounting we specialize in.”

Migliore joined Wickes in January of 2017 with more than 10 years of experience.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Professional Accountancy from SUNY Albany and a Bachelor’s Degree (magna cum laude) in Accounting from Siena College.
