IOOV Welcomes Michael Weidrich

As Director of Advancement, Michael Weidrich will be a member of the senior leadership team and responsible for developing, managing, and administering In Our Own Voices’ funding development efforts and further the mission and profile of the organization through public relations and community engagement.

“After the tragedies and hardships of 2016 and the uncertainty and challenges to come in 2017, I felt that as a bi-racial, gay man of color, this was the most crucial time to support the mission and work of In Our Own Voices.”

Michael has been an LGBT activist for nearly 25 years having marched in the Million Gay March on DC in 1993 and participated in equal rights activities across New York State. He has held positions in several not-for-profit organizations in Albany including the Albany Institute of History & Art, the Lark Street Business Improvement District, and most recently as Executive Director of the Pride Center of the Capital Region. Michael is very active with several initiatives of the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce and sits on the board of CARES Inc.

Michael has been recognized for his work in the community, having received awards from the Albany Business Review, the Stakeholders Inc., the Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Capital District Gay & Lesbian Community Council, the Lark Street Business Improvement District and will be recognized by the FBI in 2017. Michael holds a Masters in Business Administration from the College of Saint Rose; Advanced Graduate Certificates in Not-for-Profit Management and Instructional Technology from the College of Saint Rose; and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University.
