GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation Awards 2019 Grants Today

The GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation today presents its 2019 slate of 45 grants totaling $160,437 benefiting local organizations and community projects.  With this round of grants, the Foundation formed by GLOBALFOUNDRIES and the Town of Malta has placed over $1.2 million into service in the Malta community since its inception in 2011.

The 2019 Malta grant awards will be presented today at a reception hosted at the David R. Meager Community Center in Malta at 4:30pm.  The Foundation Board and organization representatives will be on hand to receive checks and celebrate funding the following projects and programs:

AIM Services, Inc.: $4,000 for an after-school program

Ballston Spa High School: $750 for books for the Multicultural Literature Student Choice Reading Unit

Ballston Spa High School Parent Teacher Student Association: $4,000 for after prom activities and the Arts in Education program

Ballston Spa High School Student Book Club: $2,000 for purchase of books and snacks for student book club meetings

Ballston Spa High School Troupe: $2,500 to purchase microphones

Ballston Spa Jr. Baseball League: $6,250 towards construction of a concession stand

Chango Elementary School: $2,350 for Chromebooks in the classroom

Chango Elementary School: $2,296 for sensory pathway

Children’s Museum of Science and Technology (CMOST): $2,500 for Malta summer science crew

Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region – Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund: $4,000 for the Ballston Spa First Robotics Team supporting regional competitions

Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region – Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund: $3,500 for the Robot Rumble Off-Season FIRST Robotics event

East Line Union Cemetery Inc.: $3,000 to fund repair and restore fallen and tilting monuments and markers that do not meet criteria for New York State funding

Empire State Aerosciences Museum: $3,270 for Malta Project exhibit

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties: $3,000 for improvements to Captain’s Youth Shelter

Junior Achievement of Northeastern NY: $2,500 for support materials for the Junior Achievement programs in the Ballston Spa School District

Launching Pad Productions, Ballston Spa Central School District: $1,500 for Disney’s Frozen Jr.

Living Resources: $3,800 for photography training and instruction at the Malta Studio art program

Malta Avenue Elementary School PTA: $1,550 to bring to the school the “Science of Sound” presentation and the “Measure for Measuring” CMOST lesson

Malta Community Garden: $1,500 for garden improvement and soil enrichment

Malta Fire Explorers #5438: $5,000 for purchase of safety equipment

Malta League of Arts: $1,900 for Stories of Immigrant Experience

Malta Senior Citizens Inc.: $5,500 for cultural outings & luncheon events

Malta Sunrise Rotary Club: $500 for emergency gas cards

Malta Veterans Appreciation Program: $3,000 for housing repairs benefiting Town of Malta veterans

Malta Youth Commission: $3,700 for “Celebrating Youth for All Seasons”

Malta Stillwater EMS: $8,880 for the purchase of IV pumps

Rebuilding Together Saratoga County: $10,000 for critical home repairs for low-income homeowners in the Town of Malta

Round Lake Auditorium: $3,000 for outdoor seating

Round Lake/Malta Youth Baseball Inc.: $5,512 for new equipment shed

Roundabout Runners Club: $6,000 for Luther Forest Tech Campus 100 acre wood trail update

Rugrunners Robotic: $7,500 for the FIRST Team 20, Shenendehowa FIRST Robotics Team

Saratoga Bridges: $10,000 for renovations in the Alpha Building

Saratoga Lake Sailing Foundation: $3,000 for Introduction to Sailing program for residents of Malta

Shenendehowa MS: $2,500 to replace outdated musical equipment

Shenendehowa High School PTA: $2,000 to help establish a Media Broadcasting Club

Shenendehowa PTA: $3,885 for Odyssey of the Mind program

Shenendehowa-Chango: $369 for Early Literacy Pilot Project

St. Mary’s School: $1,000 for annual theater production

St. Peter Lutheran Church: $3,000 to purchase items for the Malta food pantry

The Children’s Museum at Saratoga: $1,000 for the Making Connections program

The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region/Ballston Spa Central School District: $5,000 for the Scotties Backpack Program

Town of Malta Open Space, Agriculture, and Trails Committee (OATS): $1,500 for “Get Out! 2020 Photo Contest” and “Where in Malta am I?” contest

Town of Malta Parks & Recreation: $3,500 for the Town of Malta Concert Series

Town of Malta Spotlighter’s Theatre Troupe: $3,925 for production of “Willy Wonka”

Town of Malta Veterans Committee: $5,000 for Honor Flights, Annual Parade and Veteran’s Recognition Brunch

 

Each year, the GLOBALFOUNDRIES-Town of Malta Foundation looks for projects that are creative, innovative, and inclusive in their scope and opportunities that will provide the maximum amount of benefit to the local Malta community.  The Foundation’s history of giving includes:

  • 2013: $164,000 to 38 local organizations
  • 2014: $172,915 to 43 local organizations
  • 2015: $160,853 to 39 local organizations

  • 2017: $159,000 to 38 local organizations
  • 2018: $165,500 to 39 local organizations
