Drug Take Back Day Taking Place October 24, 2020 at Guilderland Public Library

The Guilderland Public Library and the Guilderland Police Department are teaming up for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s nationwide Drug Take-Back Day, a one-day collaborative effort between the DEA and state and local law enforcement agencies focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s medicine cabinets.

Providing a safe and convenient way to dispose of substances, Drug Take Back Day will take place on Sat. Oct. 24, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on a drive-through basis in the library’s auxiliary parking lot (an immediate right turn upon entering Mercy Care Lane). Prescription and over-the-counter medications are accepted, including liquid medicines and pet medications.

Instructions: Put your medications in a bag, if possible; wear a mask covering your nose and mouth; put bagged medications in an easily-accessible place while remaining in your vehicle, or in your trunk so an officer may retrieve it; drive through to the drop-off point and stay in your vehicle; follow the officers’ instructions.

Medications cannot be accepted before 10 a.m. or after 2 p.m., nor can sharps, needles, or lancets be accepted. Drug Take Bake officials will not question anyone, nor will they request identification.  Please see www.guilderlandlibrary.org for further details.
