December 4, 2018Deserea Taylor Receives Joslin Award
Deserea Taylor, an employee of Center Commercial Services, part of the Center for Disability Services, is a recipient of a 2018 William B. Joslin Outstanding Performers Award from New York Industries for the Disabled (NYSID). Taylor, who is legally blind, works in the mailing services area and is responsible for ensuring all notices and attachments are complete and accurate before being mailed to state agency customers. Her job requires monitoring thousands of pieces of mail and adhering to strict quality standards.
“If I didn’t have this job, I would be looking for another job,” said Taylor. “I can’t imagine not working.”
“Deserea has great attention to detail, seeking out help when needed… she works independently and efficiently,” explained Chris Schelin, director of operations at Commercial Services.
Taylor was honored with a workplace presentation and luncheon. Thomas F. Cassidy, member of the Governing Board and member of the Center Commercial Services Advisory Committee, presented her with the award certificate. She also received a check and was featured in the Joslin Awards program.
Taylor was one of 57 members of the 2018 Joslin “Class of Outstanding Performers” from across New York State and is the 12th employee from Center Commercial Services to receive a Joslin award.
