Colonie Center Continues Support of Local Schools with School Bucks Campaign

Colonie Center announced the winners of the Center’s School Bucks Campaign, via zoom with the participants this past Monday. School Bucks is a community-based program organized by Colonie Center that rewards local schools with points that translate to monetary prizes, to help support the area schools.

In year’s past, this announcement event has been held at Colonie Center with a full audience of participants and oversized checks presented to the winners; however, due to the pandemic, plans changed. Colonie Center is using funds originally intended for the big event and instead, giving it back to the community with a donation valued at over $1,000 to support St. Catherine’s Center for Children. With St. Catherine’s mission of supporting families and school-aged children in the Capital region, and roughly 100 stores at Colonie Center, the decision was made to donate clothes to improve the lives of the families we serve.

“We are very excited about our School Bucks program every year and love seeing how it impacts our community’s schools. When we realized we had additional funds to utilize, we felt that making a donation to St. Catherine’s was an excellent way to help the children in our community even further,” said Marissa McCarren, Marketing and Business Development Manager at Colonie Center.

“St. Catherine’s Center for Children is proud to count Colonie Center among our friends. We serve some of the most vulnerable children in the region, and Colonie Center has a long history of supporting our mission,” said Brian Bell, Director of Agency Advancement for St. Catherine’s. “We are incredibly grateful for this gift, especially during a time when many families are struggling and their resources are stretched thin.”

This year’s top ten winners of the School Bucks campaign are, Blessed Sacrament, Eagle Point, Loudonville Christian School, St. Pius X, Albany School of Humanities, Shaker Road Elementary, West Sand Lake, Sacred Heart School, St. Jude the Apostle, and St. Ketari Tekakwitha School.
