CEG’s Talent Connect Launches New Initiative: Personal guided Tours of the Capital Region

Building on its efforts to assist regional employers in attracting and keeping quality talent, the Center for Economic Growth (CEG) today announced the newest service to be provided through its Talent Connect program: personal guided tours that will give newcomers a firsthand look at key institutions and attractions throughout the Capital Region.

Three professional guides have been secured to lead personal tours that will help immerse job candidates and new hires in the region’s history, arts and culture. Tours will be offered in the cities of Albany, Saratoga, Schenectady and Troy/Rensselaer, with an eye toward highlighting what makes each unique.

Conducted during both the pre-hire and new-hire phases, the tours can be tailored to serve the particular needs and interests of individuals, families or groups. Traveling by vehicle and on foot, participants will enjoy opportunities to see and experience the region’s jewels – from landmarks like the State Capitol, Proctors Theatre, SPAC and EMPAC to unique museums, parks, shops and restaurants in each city.

“It’s safe to say that no two tours will be alike. Each itinerary will be custom-made to ensure that participants see what’s most important to them, from our region’s distinctive history and culture to our vibrant arts and entertainment scene,” said Mike Hickey, CEG’s Interim President and CEO. “In further growing the important mission of Talent Connect, these tours will provide another valuable tool to help employers attract the best and brightest talent, and keep them.”

Launched by CEG in February, Talent Connect is designed to enhance recruitment and retention of professional talent for area employers, and break the personal and professional isolation often associated with transitioning professionals to a new location, helping them integrate more quickly into both professional and community networks.

Talent Connect’s menu of services ranges from pre-hire consultations and dual career support to community integration and cultural transitioning, all of which connect professionals to what’s important to them, while giving employers a competitive edge by proactively serving the needs of relocating talent.
