February 15, 2018Capital District YMCA Promotes Matthew Skaarup to District Executive Director for Guilderland and Duanesburg
The Capital District YMCA is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew Skaarup to the position of District Executive Director for the Duanesburg and Guilderland branches.
In his new role, Matt will be chiefly responsible for successfully managing the day-to-day operations of both branches, including forming strategic partnerships with key business, civic, and social leaders, and growing the number of children, adults and families served by the Y.
“Matt has a sincere regard for developing others, from the members of his team to the Y members he faithfully serves. I look forward to seeing the Duanesburg community benefit from Matt’s keep interest in team building,” noted Dave Brown, President and CEO of the Capital District YMCA.
Matt began his YMCA career as a facility coordinator at the Bethlehem branch. He was then selected as the Greene County YMCA Director of Membership and Wellness when that new branch opened in 2014. While at Greene County, Matt was promoted to Operations Director, and then selected as the Executive Director for Guilderland in November of 2016.
With more than 15 years of experience in a variety of non-profit management roles, Matt’s strength is his ability to successfully build strong mission-driven teams. “I am grateful to be part of an organization that’s so dedicated to building healthy communities,” noted Matt.
