May 3, 2017CAP COM to Host Financial Education Reality Fair at Local High School
CAP COM Federal Credit Union will partner with local business volunteers from the Capital Region Chamber’s Tech Valley Young Professionals Network, Hudson Valley Community College and Mission Accomplished Transition Services to host a Financial Education Reality Fair for 100 students at South Colonie High School on Thursday, May 11 from 7 a.m. until noon.
This program aims to teach high school students about financial literacy in a fun and interactive way, outside of the traditional classroom setting. With a focus on providing financial solutions for every life stage, CAP COM believes in educating individuals on how to build a strong and smart financial foundation.
CAP COM President/CEO, Paula A. Stopera said, “This Reality Fair is really an extension of the financial education we offer at the elementary school level through our School Banking program. We know that financial literacy is not always offered as a course to students, and as a financial institution it’s our duty and privilege to help our schools fill this void where applicable.”
“CAP COM’s Reality Fair creates a realistic connection for our students of perceived versus actual life and career choices. It is paramount that students in the millennial generation experience a multi-faceted perspective of what is practical in the world that awaits them,” said Tom Kachadurian, Assistant Principle, South Colonie High School.
