Bread from Brooklyn Locates on Schenectady’s Upper Union Street

Several years ago a poll by the Upper Union Street Business Improvement District (BID) listed “bread bakery” as among the top designated categories desired by the neighbors. Well their wishes will come true when Bread from Brooklyn moves into the former Jimmy John’s space at 1625 Union Street next to Hot Harry’s Fresh Burritos. The Grand Opening for the new “take out only” shop is on Friday, June 16. Bread from Brooklyn will participate in the Upper Union Street 12th Annual Strawberry Fest on Saturday, June 17.

“We are thrilled to welcome Angelo Bonsignore and Bread from Brooklyn to the Upper Union Street family,” said Christopher Mastroianni, Chair of the Upper Union Street BID. “It’s an example of a perfect addition to our retail mix. Bread from Brooklyn is a close neighbor of the soon to be build NEW City Squire Pub on Keyes Avenue makes the opening all the more to celebrate.”

Bread From Brooklyn offers freshly made Italian bread, bagels, cookies and pastries made in some of the very finest bakeries in Brooklyn, New York and is driven by van north to the Upstate, NY region on a daily basis. Often business owner Angelo Bonsignore drives the van throughout the week. The business started out supplying Upstate New York local pizzerias and stores with the baked goods from Brooklyn. The business model began the concept of store front “take out only” operations with the opening of a Bread From Brooklyn store in Amsterdam, NY. In early January 2017.

Bread from Brooklyn was established in 2016 by Angelo Bonsignore. Angelo grew up in Brooklyn, New York. After buying a house in Wells, New York in 2014 he noticed the need for good New York City bread and bagels in the upstate region.
