Better Neighborhoods Announces Grant Awards from NYS Homes & Community Renewal

Better Neighborhoods, Inc., a nonprofit housing organization founded in 1966 to create and preserve affordable housing for residents of the City of Schenectady, recently announced that they have been awarded grant funding from New York State Homes & Community Renewal, including:

  • $150,000 in Access to Home for Medicaid funding that will be used to provide home accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners on Medicaid.
  • $150,000 in Access to Home for Veterans funding that will be used to provide home accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners who are veterans living with a disability.
  • $150,000 in RESTORE funding that will be used to provide emergency repairs for low-income senior homeowners.

The repairs and accessibility modifications will be provided at no cost to the homeowner.
