February 4, 2016American Red Cross and Ballston Spa National Bank Partner for Annual Blood Drives
Ballston Spa National Bank (BSNB) and the American Red Cross are teaming up to sponsor two community blood drives on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016. The blood drives will be held from noon to 6 p.m. at BSNB Corporate Plaza, 990 State Route 67, in Ballston Spa and at the Malta Community Center, 1 Bayberry Drive in Malta.
The American Red Cross has an emergency need for blood and platelet donors. Severe weather since Jan. 1, has forced the cancellation of more than 300 blood drives across 20 states. These cancellations have resulted in more than 9,500 uncollected donations, further depleting an already low winter supply.
“Approximately every two seconds a patient in the United States needs blood. That’s why your blood donation through the Red Cross is so important,” said BSNB President and CEO Chris Dowd.
The American Red Cross and BSNB urge healthy, eligible donors to take this opportunity to make an appointment to give blood. Appointments can be quickly and easily scheduled by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Eligible blood donors of all blood types are needed to strengthen the community’s blood supply. Walk-ins are always welcome, but donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance.
Blood donors can now save time at their next donation by using RapidPass to complete their pre-donation reading and health history questionnaire online, on the day of their donation, prior to arriving at the blood drive.
