Advocacy: Where we Stand

It’s hard to believe that the 2018 Legislative Session begins next month. It seems like only yesterday that the Legislature left Albany having enacted several laws that the Chamber had pushed for: bring Uber & Lyft to the Capital Region; Workers Comp reform; and increased state funding for our city school districts. While we had a successful 2017, your Chamber Advocacy Team is laser focused on 2018 and our fight for policies that make the Capital Region more competitive and lead to job creation.

In 2018, our top priorities will be centered around improving the state’s business climate, reforming the burdensome and costly Scaffold Law, and energy policies that promote upgrading the state’s high-voltage electric transmission system and increasing access to natural gas for manufacturing, power production, transportation, and other purposes that support our region’s economy and our dynamic communities. Simply put, you’ll see your Chamber Advocacy Team fighting in 2018 to ensure that the Capital Region is known for its thriving economy and vibrant quality of life. Because of you our voice will be strong in 2018.
