2016 BlueShield Scholars Program Announced

BlueShield of Northeastern New York is officially accepting nominations for the annual BlueShield Scholars Program.

Now in its fifth year, BlueShield has awarded over 400 scholarships totaling more than $100,000 since the program’s inception.

The scholarship program recognizes exceptional high school seniors who are pursuing higher education for a career in the fields of health or human sciences. Nominated students should have a passion for health care and exemplify BlueShield’s core values: teamwork, integrity, passion, personal responsibility, excellence, and respect.

“At BlueShield, we believe in providing young leaders with opportunities for today and for tomorrow,” said Dr. Kirk Panneton, Regional Executive and Medical Director of BlueShield of Northeastern New York. “We work hard to keep students healthy, and our schools work hard to guide them to healthy futures. We’re proud to support students as they follow their academic passions.”

School guidance counselors and administrators can nominate one senior from their school who meets the award requirements through April 22. Nominations will be accepted online at the link below.
