Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley Announces New Workshop Series

The Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley announced its new workshop series, “Creators of Beauty: Hand Painted Quilt Squares”. Under the guidance of Jeannie Thomma, a local artist, the 3 week series will provide people with disabilities the opportunity to create felt panels which will be sewn into a community quilt. The quilt will be unveiled in October in recognition of Disability Awareness Month. All people with disabilities are welcome, and there is no charge to participate; materials are also included. The series will take place at ILCHV’s offices at 15 Third Street, Troy NY; the space is located on a bus line and is accessible to people with all disabilities. The workshop will take place June 14, 21 and 28. Deadline for registration is June 7.

This project is made possible in part through a Community Arts Grant, a program funded by the Arts Center of the Capital Region through the New York State Council on the Arts. Interested individuals with disabilities should call Barbara Devore at 518.274.0701 if you have questions or to register.
