Capital Roots’ Raises a Record-Breaking $19,000 at 19th Annual Garden Bowl

Capital Roots, a Troy-based nonprofit celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, held its 19th annual Garden Bowl fundraiser at Uncle Sam Lanes this past Saturday. More than $19,000 was raised, making this a record-breaking year for this long-standing event for the organization. Proceeds benefit the organization’s fleet of food access programs including 51 Community Gardens, the Veggie Mobile®, Healthy Streets, Squash Hunger and more.

More than 115 bowlers accepted the challenge of fundraising for the event, filling every lane at the bowling alley. Teams dressed in matching outfits and competed for high scores while attempting to win one of many raffle items at the event. Bowlers walked away with prizes such as ski passes, dining certificates, event tickets and more, generously donated by more than 60 local businesses.

“We’re so grateful to the many people who came to support us again this year,” said Amy Klein, Capital Roots’ Executive Director.  “Garden Bowl has proved time and time again to be one of our most well-loved family fundraisers.”

Special thanks go to event sponsors including Troy Teachers Association, Uncle Sam Lanes, Troy Cloth & Paper, Architecture +, Cargill, Flowers by Pesha, Austin & Co. Inc., Community Resource Federal Credit Union, Crisafulli Bros, Druthers, Hilton Garden Inn of Troy, Groff NetWorks and Hoosick Valley Contractors.
