February 4, 2022‘Men Go Red for Women’ Launches on Wear Red Day, Feb. 4
Inclement weather won’t stop the Capital Region from glowing red as businesses and individuals celebrate Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 4.
Throughout the area, 30 buildings will be illuminated in red to shine a light on heart disease in women. Many buildings in the Capital complex will glow red for the first time in the 19 years of Wear Red Day history. Wear Red Day is part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, which raises awareness about the fact that cardiovascular disease is a woman’s No. 1 health threat. Donations to the American Heart Association help fund research and education to change that statistic.
For the third year in a row, the Men Go Red for Women campaign will kick off on Wear Red Day. Ten men have committed to participate in a six-week campaign to fundraise for the Go Red for Women movement. The 2020 and 2021 Men Go Red classes raised a total of $94,000.
“Wear Red Day is an exciting and impactful day,” said Amy Young, executive director of the American Heart Association in the Capital Region and Upper Hudson Valley. “I’m glad that the state is joining in the ‘Capital Region Glows Red,’ and look forward to the success of this year’s Men Go Red for Women class, our largest yet.”
