Animal Protective Foundation Receives Donation From Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady Following Casino’s Inaugural Holiday Trees of Hope Fundraiser

The Landing Hotel General Manager Laura Primiano, Rivers Casino & Resort Community Relations Manager Marissa Riggi, Rivers Casino & Resort General Manager Justin Moore, Rivers Casino & Resort VP of Operations Karl Waitner, APF Executive Director Austin Gates, and APF Fund Development Associate Katrina Baker.

The Animal Protective Foundation is pleased to announce that it has received a donation for $2,800 from Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady. The APF’s tree was selected as the favorite by Rivers’ guests during the casino’s inaugural Holiday Trees of Hope fundraiser held throughout the month of December. The money will be used to help pay for the medical care, housing, food, and adoption services for companion animals throughout Schenectady County and the Capital Region.

“The APF is delighted to have been selected as the community favorite in the Rivers Casino & Resort Holiday Trees of Hope fundraising event,” said APF Senior Fund Development Director, Nancy Benz. “It was fun for us to be part of this event that brought season’s cheer to our local family and friends. The APF tree was side-by-side with all the other trees that were beautifully decorated, and all deserve applause!”

Rivers Casino’s Holiday Trees of Hope gave guests the opportunity to help raise money for 15 local community and charitable organizations, including the APF. The trees, decorated by the organizations themselves, were on display in the casino’s event center throughout the month of December. Guests were able to vote for their favorite tree by purchasing special voting tokens. The APF received the Rivers Casino Keeping Spirits Bright Charity Tree bonus award of $2,000 for being selected as the favorite. The fundraiser brought in more than $11,000 in total for the 15 organizations that participated.

“We couldn’t be happier to be able to make this donation on behalf of Rivers Casino and our guests to the Animal Protective Foundation,” said Rivers Casino & Resort Assistant General Manager, Justin Moore. “Knowing that the funds will be used to help find homes and provide treatment for companion animals, makes our Holiday Trees of Hope fundraising event even more memorable.”

Along with providing a full range of services for companion animals, the APF also provides low-cost spay and neutering services, a pet behavior hotline, pet food pantry, micro-chipping, and end of life services.
