WMHT Public Media Supports Students Learning at Home

WMHT Public Media introduces a new programming block in coordination with Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) to support in-home learning for grades 4-12 while area schools are closed. The programming will cover a range of subjects including science, math, social studies, history, and literature and will air from 8am-6pm Monday through Friday on WMHT WORLD beginning Monday, March 23.

The additional block of programming is complemented by a robust suite of contextualized, standards-aligned lesson plans and resources available for free from PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) and PBS LearningMedia. WMHT will continue to offer educational programming for PreK through grade 3 during the day on WMHT-TV and all-day on WMHT’s 24/7 PBS Kids channel and streaming service.

“We are dedicated to supporting our community with meaningful learning services during this extraordinary time,” states WMHT President and CEO, Robert Altman. “Whether over-the-air or online, we have diverse content for home learning for all age groups.”

WMHT will continue to offer the Home Classroom block of programming, featuring NOVA, NATURE, HISTORY DETECTIVES, SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED, AMERICAN MASTERS, MASTERPIECE and more, on WMHT WORLD while area schools are closed.

“We are pleased to partner with WMHT to provide our communities with access to educational programming to keep students engaged and learning while our schools remain closed,” said Capital Region BOCES Senior Executive Officer Joseph P. Dragone, Ph.D. “All of our component school districts share in our commitment to help students continue their learning with educational, interesting and fun content during this unprecedented time.”
