December 4, 2018Capital Region BOCES Senior Earns Prestigious Design Certification from Adobe
A Guilderland senior who aspires to a career in technology is the first Capital Region BOCES student to earn a prestigious Adobe certification.
Kody Lieb was presented the Adobe Certified Visual Design Specialist certification on Nov. 29 in front of classmates by Capital Region BOCES Internet Application Design Teacher Barb Gorbaty.
“Kody is the first to earn this designation from the Capital Region BOCES Internet Application program. It signifies an expertise that college’s often award credits for and is used on resumes to get jobs,” said Gorbaty. To earn the Adobe certification a person must demonstrate professional-level skills and expertise in three or more Adobe design programs.
Lieb is planning to take his certification and expertise in the visual arts next year to Hudson Valley Community College where he will pursue a degree in digital media. He plans to graduate from there, pursue a four-year degree and launch a career in graphic design.
“I want to be a graphic artist because it’s fun and it allows you to express yourself,” he said.
Lieb credits Capital Region BOCES and his teacher with making him college and career ready.
“I’ve learned a lot here and earned certifications thanks to Ms. Gorbaty,” he said.
Lieb is one of 30 students in the Internet Applications Design program offered at Capital Region BOCES’ Albany campus. Students in the two-year program learn how to operate and work with industry standard software while developing a working knowledge of design theory and practice.
