CAP COM partners with Unity House for Christmas in July Toy Drive

CAP COM Federal Credit Union and its charitable giving arm, the CAP COM Cares Foundation, has announced the launch of the 2018 Christmas In July Toy Drive with Unity House. As part of Unity House’s annual Children’s Holiday Program, CAP COM will provide toy collection boxes in the lobbies of its 11 branches July 6-31. The toy drive is open to the public, including CAP COM’s membership community.

Toys and other items collected during this time will kick-start to the organization’s annual holiday drive for families in need each December. The July program is geared towards teen gifts. Possibilities include toiletries, makeup and personal care sets, electronic games and accessories, board games, books, sports equipment, clothing, and gift cards. Unity House provides gifts to more than 1,400 children each year.

Since 1971, Unity House has been assisting those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness, individuals with HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence and children with developmental delays. Christopher Burke, CEO, noted, “We are pleased to work with CAP COM and its members to kick off our holiday program. People living in poverty need assistance year ‘round, so Christmas in July is perfect.”

Creating a season of giving during the summer keeps that spirit of generosity alive. “Christmas in July brings lots of people together. Children and teens who utilize services provided by Unity House receive items that may be ordinarily out of reach. And, we are able to engage CAP COM members to support a worthy organization through our CAP COM Cares Foundation, too,” remarked Amanda Goyer, Community Relations Manager at CAP COM. “We are pleased that Unity House selected CAP COM as its 2018 Christmas in July partner.”
