October 19, 2017Red Cross Announces 2017 Real Heroes Award Recipients
The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York is pleased to announce its 2017 Real Heroes award recipients. These individuals – ordinary citizens who have performed extraordinary acts of service in our community – will be honored at the Real Heroes Breakfast on Thursday, November 2 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy.
The Red Cross’ 2017 Real Heroes are:
- David T. Wallingford, Captain, USMC: Military Hero
- Bimbo Bakeries USA – Albany Freihofer’s Cake Bakery Associates: Good Neighbor Heroes
- Deployed Red Cross Volunteers: Emergency Relief Heroes
- Barbara & Paul Wersten: Blood Donor Heroes
“This year’s Real Heroes embody every facet of the Red Cross mission,” said Gary Striar, CEO for the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York. “From serving local veterans, to collecting lifesaving blood, to intervening in the face of emergencies and responding to help families who’ve been devastated by disasters, these people have saved lives in more ways than one. It’s our honor to be able to celebrate them and to share their inspiring stories at our Real Heroes Breakfast.”
Tickets to the 2017 Real Heroes Breakfast – hosted by John Gray of News10 ABC, with event chairs Kate Otis and Laura Petrovic – are available now. The $30 cost of admission includes a hot breakfast, with all proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York.
