RSVP of the Capital Region Hosted Over 140 RSVP Volunteers for a Luncheon and Presentation

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of the Capital Region sponsor Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC) hosted the 2nd Annual RSVP Luncheon on Thursday, May 26 at Treviso by Mallozzi’s. Over 140 volunteers attended this luncheon to thank the volunteers for their help over the year and to also educate the attendees. Keynote Speaker Lynda Schrager of At Home for Life gave an hour long presentation of “Design your Home for Life!” and talked about tips for aging-in-place successfully.

CSSC began sponsoring RSVP of the Capital Region in July of 2014, and has since grown the program to 32 stations with over 280 senior volunteers. This program has helped revitalize senior volunteering in the Capital Region, and gives people over the age of 55 a number of different volunteer opportunities throughout Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady counties.

RSVP of the Capital Region exemplifies the teamwork between national corporations and local organizations. CSSC works directly with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to engage those 55 and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of volunteers.

Colonie Senior Service Centers is an independent, community-based not for profit serving the largest population of seniors in the Capital Region.
