ValleyCats Release 2016 Schedule

The Tri-City ValleyCats, Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros, will kick off their 15th anniversary season at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Friday, June 17 with a two game series vs. the Connecticut Tigers.

The ValleyCats will host a total of 38 regular season home games in 2016 as they look to defend their streak of four straight Stedler Division titles. Each night will feature a unique and exciting promotion as part of the season-long celebration of their 15th anniversary.

Other June opponents include the Vermont Lake Monsters (June 22-24) and Williamsport Crosscutters (June 28-30).

July will be a momentous month at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, as the ValleyCats prepare to welcome their two millionth fan through the gates.

An Independence Day celebration is how the month will begin at “The Joe,” as the ValleyCats host the State College Spikes (July 4-6). Other July matchups include three game sets with the Connecticut Tigers (July 14-16), Batavia Muckdogs (July 17-19), and Vermont Lake Monsters (July 24-26).

As the calendar flips from July to August, the ValleyCats will welcome the Lowell Spinners, affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, to Troy for a pair of three game series on July 31-August 2 and August 26-28.

The ValleyCats will host the entire McNamara Division during the months of August and September, beginning with the Brooklyn Cyclones, affiliate of the New York Mets, from August 6-8. The ‘Cats host the Aberdeen IronBirds from August 17-19, the Hudson Valley Renegades from August 20-22, and the Staten Island Yankees, affiliate of the New York Yankees, from September 1-3.

Since the ValleyCats arrived in Troy back in 2002, 39 players have gone on to reach Major League Baseball. Notable alumni include a pair of 2009 teammates, Major League All-Star pitcher Dallas Keuchel, and All-Star infielder Jose Altuve. Keuchel is the leading candidate for the 2015 American League Cy Young Award, and Altuve captured the Major League batting title in 2014.
