Prevention Project for Youth Receives Grant from KeyBank Foundation

Alliance for Positive Health was awarded $5,000 by KeyBank Foundation, the charitable arm of KeyCorp, to support the agency’s Real Talk Youth Program.  Donna Vancavage, Director of Development & Marketing, said the grant will help the nonprofit redesign the Real Talk website.  The Real Talk program operates to work with high risk youth ages 13-17 in the cities of Albany, Schenectady, and Troy.  Real Talk aims to reduce youth risk for HIV/AIDS, STIs, and pregnancy. The program engages youth through media and technology.  Youth-developed projects and social media interaction create positive community norms around HIV/STI testing, delaying sex, practicing safer sex, abstinence from sexual activity and substance use, and related behaviors among primarily urban youth of color.

“Few things are more important to the health and economy of a region than thriving, healthy, engaged youth. This is why KeyBank is so committed to seeking opportunities to partner with organizations such as the Alliance for Positive Health to help communities and individuals thrive,” said Ruth Mahoney, president, Capital Region, KeyBank. “The Real Talk program addresses an important community need and transforms lives.  KeyBank is proud to offer our support.”
