MAAC Announces 2017-18 Men’s Basketball Schedule

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has released its 2017-18 men’s basketball league schedule, announced today by the conference.

Each institution plays an unbalanced 18-game league schedule, with nine home games and nine away games, starting the final week of December.

2017-18 matchup highlights include:

  • The first day of league play, Thursday, December 28, features 2017 CollegeInsider.com Postseason (CIT) champion Saint Peter’s University traveling to Fairfield University. Back-to-back MAAC regular season champion Monmouth University takes on Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT under first-year head coach Baker Dunleavy.
  • A rematch of the 2016 MAAC Championship final between back-to-back tournament champions Iona College and Siena College takes place on Thursday, January 11 at the Hynes Athletics Center in New Rochelle, NY. The Gaels and Saints meet again on Monday, February 12 at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.
  • The MAAC is set to host a tripleheader at the NYCB Live Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, January 27 in a LONG ISLAND HOOPS event. Iona-Manhattan, Marist-Monmouth and Quinnipiac-Fairfield square off in the 13,500 seat arena. Manhattan, Monmouth, and Quinnipiac serve as the designated home teams in 2018.   • The “Battle of the Bridge” rivalry between Canisius College and Niagara University resumes Saturday, January 27 when the Griffs welcome the Purple Eagles to the Koessler Athletic Center. The two Western New York teams meet again on Wednesday, February 21 at the Gallagher Center.
  • Monmouth, Rider, and Saint Peter’s meet in the “hOURglass” Rivalry, beginning Sunday, December 31 when Monmouth takes on Saint Peter’s at the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City. The Peacocks host the Broncs on Thursday, January 18.  Rider welcomes Saint Peter’s to Alumni Gym on Friday, January 26, and Monmouth on Monday, January 29. The Hawks host Saint Peter’s and Rider on Tuesday, February 13 and Thursday, February 22, respectively.
  • Marist College and Siena College go head-to-head at McCann Arena in Poughkeepsie, NY on Friday, December 29 and face each other again on Thursday, January 18 at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.

The 2017-18 MAAC television broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.

The MAAC season concludes with the 2018 MAAC Basketball Championships, March 1-5, at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. The 2018 title game takes place Monday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. and airs live on ESPN or ESPN2 with the winner earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
