CREATE Community Studios is now in Schenectady

CREATE Community Studios, a community-based expressive arts studio marked its grand opening on Friday, June 16 with the Chamber.  Local elected officials and community developers along with Chamber Ambassadors, staff, family and friends were all on hand for the celebration.  The Schenectady Studio brings visual art as a presence back to Schenectady.  CREATE’s intent in Schenectady is to collaborate with local agencies to bring art to consumers, as well as help promote visual art throughout the city, particularly as a way to bring people together, to “create community.” Heather Hutchinson, the studio’s director, is happy to expand from their already established Saratoga location.  She hopes to bring the same awareness to mental illness and its relationship to art as a therapy that has been done in that location.  The Chamber is excited anytime a community initiative comes to town.  We hope Heather and the partners in the community find a wealth of healing and collaboration with the arts.
