May 6: PROJECT Trio with ESYO Repertory and String Orchestras

Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy
3:00 p.m.

Lauded by the Wall Street Journal for their “wide appeal, subversive humor and first-rate playing,” the Brooklyn-based PROJECT Trio will join the members of ESYO’s Repertory and String Orchestras at the historic Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on May 6, 2017 at 3 p.m. for a collaborative concert that will challenge perceptions about chamber music. The virtuosic trio will play off the strength of the two orchestras in an afternoon of music that spans genres and generations.

PROJECT Trio burst onto the music scene with their online videos that have garnered millions of views each, including performances by the trio’s beatboxing flutist, dubbed by the New York Times as “the best in the world at what he does.” Using social media to broaden their reach beyond the concert stage and classroom, the trio has its own YouTube channel, which has over 80 million views and 96,000 subscribers, making PROJECT Trio one of the most watched instrumental ensembles on the internet.

The afternoon’s repertoire will feature the trio’s unique arrangement Brahms and several of their own original songs as well as selections by John Williams and Richard Meyer. The ESYO Repertory Orchestra will be conducted by David Beck, and the ESYO String Orchestras will be conducted by Joseph Gumpper.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased through Troy Savings Bank Music Hall online at troymusichall.org, at the box office, or by calling 518.273.0038.
