Center Receives National Moving Mountains Award

The Direct Support Professional Development Program, implemented by the Center for Disability Services in Albany, has been selected as a winner of the Moving Mountains Best Practice Award given by the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP).

“This thoughtfully planned and well implemented system change effort is truly impressive,” stated the congratulatory letter from NADSP.

The Center employs hundreds of direct support professionals who work closely with individuals who have physical and intellectual disabilities to assist them with inclusion in all aspects of life– at home, school, the workplace and in the community. A direct support professional may also serve as an advocate to communicate needs, self expression and goal setting for a person who has disabilities or a group.

The Center for Disability Services will be recognized as a Moving Mountains Award winner at the 2016 Reinventing Quality Conference. In addition, the University of Minnesota may contact the Center to learn more about its program and to conduct a case study.
