TruWeather Solutions Wins 3rd Place and Fan Favorite Award in Genius NY Business Competition

TruWeather Solutions, a weather data and analytics company, won the 3rd place, $400,000 prize, along with the Fan Favorite Award, in the Genius NY business competition on Monday, April 9th.  GENIUS NY is the world’s largest business competition for Unmanned Systems, as well as a business accelerator, run by CenterState CEO and The Tech Garden located in Syracuse, NY.  TruWeather was one of six finalists competing for the 1 million dollar grand prize.

TruWeather is building a service that collects UAS impacting microweather and translates that data into actionable countermeasures for drone operators, allowing businesses to operate safer, reduce liability and protect their capital investments.  More importantly, this will drive down microweather uncertainty and increase flight time by 40% when weather is a factor.

By 2022, TruWeather intends to create 35 jobs in upstate New York. Over half of these will be high paying STEM jobs with a 40% higher than average wage when compared to the median income.

Don Berchoff, co-founder and CEO, states “TruWeather  thanks everyone at Empire State Development Corporation, CenterState CEO and The Tech Garden for this amazing opportunity.  We are excited to become a member of the Central New York Community.”

TruWeather Solutions is a Certified NY State SDVOB.
