LCR Program Experience
Each class is composed of a diverse group of professionals with varying backgrounds, experiences, interests, and learning styles. Class members will have the opportunity to:
- Build strong relationships and develop an extensive network of classmates, alumni, the steering committee, and session-day presenters
- Meet and engage with some of the Capital Region’s most effective and recognized leaders
- Explore community issues and exchange ideas with peers and subject‑matter experts
- Strengthen leadership and teamwork skills by collaborating on a community impact project
- Be viewed as emerging or established leaders within their organizations and the community
- Identify personal areas of interest and opportunities for community involvement and board service
Commitment & Expectations
Participation in the two-day opening retreat and the full-day closing session in May is mandatory.
The opening retreat is scheduled for: Wednesday, September 23, 2026 – Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Participants may have two emergency absences from monthly sessions held October through April.
Additionally, each participant must complete seven experiential activities outside of regular class sessions to graduate. These experiences—coordinated by program leaders—offer deeper insight into nonprofit and for‑profit organizations and their impact on the region. Examples include organizational tours, attending local government meetings, or volunteering.
Each class must also come to consensus and fully participate in a capital class community project, requiring 100% involvement.
Participation in Leadership Capital Region is an investment in yourself, your organization, and the future of the region—and requires commitment from both participants and their employers.
