The Spina Bifida Association of New York State (SBANYS) is hosting its 10th Annual Dare to Dream Gala. Dare to Dream is SBANYS’ major annual fundraiser supporting the programs and services benefitting the estimated 4,000 individuals living with Spina Bifida in New York State.
Dare to Dream brings together individuals impacted by Spina Bifida, donors, providers, and friends to celebrate the accomplishments of the community. The title “Dare to Dream” has two purposes: through our services, we encourage our consumers to never limit themselves because of negative beliefs, inaccessibility, or stigma. Additionally, this fundraiser provides us with financial support to develop programs that hugely empower those we serve.
Dare to Dream is taking place Saturday, November 19th, at 6:00 pm at Wolferts Roost Country Club in Albany, NY. SBANYS is excited to welcome Honorary Chair Edward V. Wilcenski, Esq. and You Make a Difference Award recipient SUNY School of Social Welfare. This year’s evening event and auction are available in-person and online with the auction opening for bidding Friday, November 4th at 9:00 am.
In-person guests can enjoy live music, passed and stationery hor d’oeuvres, desserts, and a cash bar. Virtual guests are invited to participate in a 1-hour wine tasting prior to streaming into the gala for the awards ceremony and live auction. Both formats offer online bidding and recognition ceremonies. Individual tickets range from $15.00-$60.00 depending on the level of participation. Table purchases and sponsorships are also available.

Spina Bifida is a neural tube birth defect that happens in the first month of pregnancy when the spinal column does not form properly, leaving nerves exposed and damaging the spinal cord. It has associated conditions like paralysis, bladder, bowel, and gastrointestinal disorders, learning disabilities, anxiety and depression, a higher risk of obesity, and the risk of latex allergy.
SBANYS is a 501c3 non-profit organization with the mission to build a better and brighter future for all those impacted by Spina Bifida. SBANYS is an affiliate of the national Spina Bifida Association with active memberships made up of children and adults living with Spina Bifida, their families, and medical professionals and advocates working to provide a community of support and to promote disability inclusion in the local, state, and national levels.
