July 28, 2015Schenectady Public Library Announces August Computer Class Schedule
Schenectady County Public Library is excited to announce its August 2015 FREE Computer Class schedule. All classes are absolutely FREE, thanks to the Friends of the Library’s funding. They are held in the Swanker Board Room located at our Central Library located at 99 Clinton Street.
The Library only ask that all participants have an SCPL card and that they sign up for the classes they would like to attend by either calling the Reference Desk at 518.388.4511 or visiting their website at www.scpl.org.
AUGUST 2015 Schedule:
Computers for Novices
Tuesday, August 4 @ 9 – 10:30 a.m.
An introduction to computers for absolute beginners. No experience necessary.
Microsoft Word 2010: File Management
Tuesday, August 4 @ 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Explore Windows’ operating environment with a focus on managing your computer files. Learn about naming files, creating folders and various
locations for saving and/or backing up documents. Requirement: Must have be very familiar with the mouse and keyboard.
Basic Keyboarding
Thursday, August 6 @ 9 – 10:30 a.m.
A hands-on class to learn the computer keyboard. Those who are new to computers should take this class.
Basic Internet
Tuesday, August 11 @ 9 – 10:30 a.m.
A very basic, hands-on introduction to the Internet. Requirements: Must be able to use the mouse and keyboard.
Get to Know Your iPad
Wednesday, August 12 @ 6 – 7:30 p.m.
What’s all the fuss about iPads? What is iOS 8? Do you have an iPad and want to feel more comfortable using it? Bring your questions and learn basic techniques of using an iPad. Bring your own iPad or borrow one of ours and explore the wonders of this new technology.
Internet Searching
Thursday, August 13 @ 9 – 10:30 a.m.
Learn how to search for information on the Internet. Requirement: Must have taken Basic Internet.
iPad, Part 2: Let the Tips Continue
Monday, August 17 @ 6 – 7:30 p.m.
If you know the basics of how to use an iPad but want to do more with it, come and learn some little known tips and tricks for using an iPad wisely. We’ll talk about taking photos, putting a slideshow together, and then sharing your efforts with family and friends around the world. We’ll talk about the mysterious “SIRI” and its role in gathering information. Bring your questions and share your favorite apps.
Basic Email
Tuesday, August 18 @ 9 – 10:30 a.m.
Set up a G-mail account to communicate safely through emails and learn how to write, send, respond and delete emails. Requirement: Must have basic internet skills.
Microsoft Word 2010: Getting to Know Word
Tuesday, August 18 @ 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Create a document with enhanced program features organized around their “Ribbons and Tabs” toolbar. Will include clipart, font changes,
line/paragraph customization, and saving your file. Requirement: This class is for those who are very familiar with the mouse and keyboard.
