Gateway House of Peace Butterfly Ball Featuring a Night of Music and Celebration with the Funk Evolution Band

Gateway House of Peace celebrates seven years of service with their first annual Butterfly Ball Friday Evening, May 20, 6-10 PM. Have fun for a good cause by dancing with the nine-piece band Funk Evolution and savoring the culinary collections of Chef John LaPorta, prepared by Innovo Kitchen. In addition, participants are invited to register for a silent auction with offerings from local businesses (currently accepting items) and register even to win a 10,000 raffle possibly.

Gateway House of Peace is an end-of-life care home in Ballston Spa, NY, that takes care of terminally ill individuals and their families during the last three months of life.
Its mission is to offer highly skilled end-of-life care, including providing the physical needs, emotional support, professional recommendations, and especially important delicate conversations had in the middle of the night with someone dying.

Gateway also supports the families of its residents. They often witness middle-aged children struggling to manage the enormous challenges of teenage children, job demands, and home maintenance while providing a safe home and medical care for their terminal parent. The weight of responsibility and the emotional turmoil of permanently losing a parent often become unbearable. It is common to have families appear at their door exhausted from offering extensive care and yet still deeply conflicted about “leaving” their loved ones in the care of Gateway. Simply put, this work is considered priceless to both the dying and surviving family members. Both are relieved. The Gateway resident is confident that Gateway caregivers will properly address their bodily needs without embarrassment, and family members are grateful to be children, spouses, or siblings again instead of para-medical professionals.
We all wish ourselves and our loved ones a “good death,” and Gateway House of Peace provides the best scenario for this to be possible. Gateway House of Peace is independently managed with only one mission, so they have the freedom and focus to facilitate death with great dignity and grace while simultaneously providing emotional support for the entire family.

This night will be a celebration of Gateway House of Peace overcoming many obstacles as a burgeoning non-profit over the last seven years, especially staying open during the last two years of the pandemic when many end-of-life care homes have been forced to close.

The Butterfly Ball is the biggest fundraising event for Gateway to offer these services at no cost to families. Gateway House of peace does not receive state or federal grant funding or insurance reimbursement. They have survived strictly through the support of the community.

Please consider enjoying a night out of good food, fun, and dancing to support Gateway House of Peace. If you are unable to attend the event, you can still participate in the 10,000 raffle drawing or bid on items by local businesses in the silent auction by visiting GatewayHouseofPeace.org.
