April 21, 2021AlbanyCanCode and KingstonCanCode Announce Largest-Ever Summer Offering of Coding Courses
AlbanyCanCode and KingstonCanCode, part of a nonprofit organization creating a new generation of software coders, are responding to the growing digital economy by offering their most ambitious summer schedule of coding courses. Driven by increased interest and the heightened importance of computer skills, three classes will be offered to enable individuals of all ages and backgrounds to gain the software development skills necessary to succeed in tech careers.
The courses include Front-End Web Development, presented in partnership with SUNY Ulster, and Python for Data Analytics and JavaScript Fundamentals, both offered in partnership with Capital Region BOCES. All classes will continue to be provided remotely, featuring hands-on, real-time instruction together with presentations from software-sector mentors in the Capital Region and Hudson Valley.

The Front-End Web Development course, which teaches technical skills necessary for user interface (UI) development and wire framing, will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays. This course represents a perfect starting point for individuals who have basic computer skills and wish to take their first steps into the field of software development.
Classes in JavaScript Fundamentals, the dominant scripting tool for front-end web development, will be held Mondays and Wednesdays. This course is intended for those who have taken Front-End Web Development in the past, or have had experience in coding, and wish to begin learning some of the most popular tools being used for web-based software today.
The Python for Data Analytics course will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this course, students will learn the foundation of Python, with an additional focus on using the popular programming language for collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data.

At this time, AlbanyCanCode and KingstonCanCode are the only officially recognized CanCode programs. The organization is currently fielding inquiries from additional regions interested in offering programs in their communities.
